Job summary

The American Red Cross in Hampton, VA is seeking Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service to support donor experiences at local collection sites. You will help transport and set up equipment, welcome donors, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

No prior medical experience required as paid phlebotomy training is provided. The role includes variable hours, driving duties, and opportunities to grow within a major humanitarian network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights and stand for long periods; able to work long, irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Connect with donors to explain the impact of donation and ensure a positive donor experience.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors at collection sites.
• Be detail oriented to ensure collected blood meets goals and safety standards.
• Assist with setup and teardown of equipment at donation sites; may drive Red Cross vehicles.
• Meet schedule requirements including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
