Job summary

Palmetto General Hospital is seeking a Blood Bank Supervisor to oversee the administrative and technical operation of the Blood Banks in coordination with the laboratory site management. The role is integral to the laboratory management team, ensuring department mission fulfillment and continuous service improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science.
• Five years of experience in an accredited blood center or transfusion service.
• Two years of supervisory experience desired.
• Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills required.

Responsibilities

• Composes, evaluates and revises all technical procedures for the Transfusion Service Departments.
• Resolves clinician complaints and problems.
• Participates in hiring and termination processes for staff as necessary.
• Collaborates with Lab Directors by recommending disciplinary action as necessary.
• Maintains adequate inventory and coordinates supplies; purchases equipment as necessary.
• Budget expenses for the Blood Bank and maintains relationships with vendors and accounting.
