Job summary

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant I to support the processing of blood products and daily laboratory operations. You will help ensure safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance in blood component preparation and testing coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in a clinical/research setting.
• Associate’s degree with similar laboratory exposure is acceptable.
• High School diploma or GED plus two years of full-time clinical/research experience with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Process blood products (Fresh Frozen Plasma, Red Blood Cells, Platelets) following standards.
• Maintain regulatory and quality compliance in blood product preparation.
• Coordinate and facilitate laboratory testing by ordering tests and communicating with internal departments.
• Manage documentation via data entry, transcription, printing, faxing, and electronic communication.
• Monitor laboratory results and handle requests via phone, email, and other channels.
• Support quality control procedures and routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintain inventory and coordinate supply ordering.
• Assist training for staff and students.
• Foster a collaborative culture focused on safety and continuous improvement.
