Job summary

New York Blood Center in New York is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee day-to-day shift activities, lead staff, ensure SOPs and regulatory compliance, and perform patient testing.

The role involves managing inventory, allocating tasks, performing quality control on hematology analyzers, and being on-call/overtime as needed, with NYS licensure requirements and prior clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in clinical laboratory technology, or a related science with licensure.
• Four years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience with two years in a director-level lab if bachelor’s; two years if master’s.
• NY State CLT License or licensure pathway as required.
• Knowledge of NYS Dept. of Health regulations, cGMP and GLP.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and oversee day-to-day shift activities and workflow in the laboratory.
• Lead and provides feedback to assigned staff and ensure SOPs and policies are followed.
• Triages and performs patient testing, including platelet antibody screen and crossmatching.
• Assure inventory and place orders for internal and external requests during shifts.
• Perform quality control on automated hematology analyzers (Sysmex XE-2100D) and supervise logs.
• Assign work by priority, review logs, and ensure smooth shift transitions.
• Be on-call as necessary and work OT to cover shifts and holidays.
• Adhere to regulations and recommend improvements to operations.
