Formación

• B.S. in Medical Technology or equivalent education to meet NYS DOH technologist standards.
• ASCP or NCA certification
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
• Blood Bank experience strongly preferred

Responsabilidades

• Demonstrates ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks.
• Performs technical procedures in Molecular Pathology, Tumor Cytogenomics, Flow Cytometry as outlined in policy and procedure manuals.
• Performs periodic maintenance on instrumentation/equipment and maintains documentation.
• Performs quality control and calibration procedures; verifies in LIS and records on QC logs.
• Ensures QC/calibration procedures are completed by signing records and logging as required.
• Maintains all records per regulatory requirements: card files, requisitions, LIS documentation, data.
• Consults with Supervisor/Pathologist on important results; notes sample issues.
• Reviews Critical Test results by repeat analysis if needed and communicates to staff; notify supervisor.
• Prioritizes work to meet turnaround times; notifies if unable to perform a test or delayed.
• Assists in Inventory Control to ensure supplies and reagents are available and stored properly.
• Participates in other projects/duties as assigned by Supervisor/Lab Management.
• Takes initiative in resolving instrument problems and finding alternatives for processing.
• Uses available time to department advantage and assists where needed.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
• Organizational/Managerial duties and participation in performance improvement.
• Maintains patient/employee confidentiality and observes compliance policies.
• Observes Safety procedures and PPE usage; proper disposal of waste and samples.
• Wears hospital ID badge at all times on premises.
• Participates in competency and proficiency testing and reports results to Supervisor.
