Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist in Transfusion Services at Duke University Hospital to join a state-of-the-art laboratory team. You will perform routine and complex tests to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease, following strict quality control and safety procedures.

The role requires a CLIA-compliant education background in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, with certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology.
• Certification preferred.
• Minimum educational or experience requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis by the CLIA director if needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tests in clinical laboratories using standard techniques and equipment.
• Operate and calibrate manual or computerized instrumentation; maintain equipment.
• Process patient samples with proper ID; ensure quality material for testing.
• Participate in lab inspections, quality control, and proficiency testing as required.
• Maintain inventory, document QC results, and communicate issues to seniors.
