Job summary

University Hospitals in Parma, OH is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist Blood Bank Lead to oversee the Blood Bank bench. The role requires leading testing, maintaining quality control, training staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance across accrediting bodies.

You will collaborate with the supervisor, perform pre-analytical/analytical/post-analytical steps, troubleshoot equipment, and support patient safety while upholding PHI and departmental policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree in other field (Required) and Associate's Degree in clinical laboratory science with ASCP or equivalent (Required)
• 3+ years in a highly complex lab setting in defined clinical disciplines (Required)
• MLS/MLT/MT ASCP or equivalent certification upon hire (Required)

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing processes.
• Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
• Executes quality control assessments per policy before reporting results.
• Trains students and new team members; guides teammates.
• Ensures compliance with CAP, accreditation & regulatory checklists.
