Job summary

Emory Healthcare in Atlanta seeks an experienced Laboratory Department Supervisor with a Blood Bank/Transfusion Service background. The role oversees day-to-day technical lab operations, budget and vendor management, and staff performance, with leadership responsibilities in a hospital setting.

The supervisor will develop departmental goals, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with leadership and other departments to maintain quality and efficiency across lab services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical lab science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.
• ASCP certified in years prior to the bachelor's degree requirement or equivalent HEW/HHS technologist certification.
• Four years of experience in medical technology or anatomic pathology.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day operations of the laboratory or area with staff supervision.
• Manages capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets; monitor expenditures.
• Evaluates vendor products and selects vendors meeting defined criteria.
• Develops short- and long-term departmental goals and objectives.
• Monitors workflow and improves productivity and quality of service.
• Supervises staff performance, training, and competency; handles HR issues.
