Job summary

ICON is seeking a Biotech Strategy Lead for General Medicine / Metabolic in the US, remote. You will shape clinical development strategies, advise clients, and drive proposals across multidisciplinary teams to deliver differentiated solutions.

The role requires deep therapeutic area expertise, executive communication, and the ability to influence stakeholders in a global matrix. Travel about 25% and a focus on biotech client partnerships will be essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 9+ years of experience in pharma, biotech, CRO, or drug development.
• Demonstrated General Medicine / Metabolic therapeutic area expertise.
• Experience supporting business development: proposal strategy, opportunity assessment, client presentations, bid defenses.
• Ability to translate scientific, clinical, and commercial considerations into strategic, feasible solutions.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a global matrix without direct reporting lines.
• Executive-level communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
• Willingness to live in the US and travel ~25%.

Responsibilities

• Shape differentiated General Medicine / Metabolic clinical development and operational strategies for biotech opportunities.
• Serve as strategic advisor and therapeutic area expert during client engagements and bid defenses.
• Lead proposal development with cross-functional teams to respond to RFIs/RFPs and budgets.
• Build trusted relationships with biotech clients and understand their pipelines and objectives.
• Provide strategic oversight from development to execution, evaluating feasibility, risks, and KPIs.
• Apply General Medicine / Metabolic expertise to inform business strategy and evolving development approaches.
• Collaborate across functions to strengthen ICON's positioning and thought leadership.
