Biotech Field Service Engineer — Travel/On-Site Support

Job summary

Formulatrix is seeking a field engineer to join our North American support team. You will install and maintain high-end biotech automation equipment at customer sites on the East Coast and, as needed, across the United States.

You will train customers and provide ongoing support by phone, email, and remote access tools. The role requires hands-on problem solving with hardware and software, travel up to 60%, and close collaboration with product managers and documentation teams.

Qualifications

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering is desirable but not required.
• 3+ years of experience in field service, application engineering, or technical customer support preferred.
• Affinity for fixing things.
• Comfortable with computers, networking, and basic IT-related activities.
• Quick learner with strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with robotics, software, microfluidics, and optics are a plus.

Responsibilities

• On-site installations and maintenance of lab equipment on the east coast, and possibly across the U.S. depending on the needs of our customers and the schedules of other support engineers.
• Customer training and support from home and in the field, via phone, email, or remote access tools such as TeamViewer.
• Up to 60% overnight travel. This means up to 60% of your time could be spent traveling (usually by flight) anywhere within the US or Canada, or (on very rare occasions) potentially even beyond, depending on the situation.
• Record customer interactions and issues in the internal CRM database.
• Provide detailed notes of on-site support work.
• Follow up with engineers and product managers to ensure customer issues have been addressed.
