Job summary

Intelas, a Compass Healthcare company, seeks an Electronics/Biomedical Equipment Technician to maintain hospital patient-care devices and support equipment across multiple sites in the Chicago area.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, service calls, calibrations, and documentation to ensure uptime and regulatory compliance. Requires 3+ years hospital field service experience and an Associates degree in electronics/biomedical technology.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronics/biomedical equipment technology required.
• Minimum 3 years servicing clinical/patient care equipment in hospitals.
• Valid driver’s license for travel.
• Ability to work independently with some supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organization and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections on patient care equipment in compliance with standards.
• Manages assigned equipment and schedules service.
• Performs pre-acceptance inspections and develops PM procedures; maintains files.
• Ensures test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
• Responds to clinical department calls to evaluate and rectify issues.
• Researches and initiates orders for repair parts within budget parameters.
• Maintains purchase order log and validates invoices for payment.
• Provides informal training to equipment users and staff as requested.
• Recommends service strategies to the Department Manager; informs supervisor of needs.
• Participates in Quality Improvement / Risk Management activities.
• Maintains an orderly and functional work environment.
• Provides emergency on-call responsibilities as needed.
• Documents asset actions per department practices.
• Collaborates with technical personnel in meetings on updates and issues.
