Job summary

Intelas, a Compass Healthcare company, is seeking a BMET I in Chicago, IL to perform planned maintenance and safety inspections on patient-care equipment, manage service schedules, and ensure proper calibration and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of hospital equipment experience and an associates in electronics/biomedical technology, plus a valid driver’s license for field travel. Intelas offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Associates degree in electronics/biomedical equipment technology or military training.
1–3 years servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital setting.
For field service travel, a valid driver’s license is required.
Ability to work independently with some supervision.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good organization and time management skills.
Knowledge of tracking service histories and generating asset reports.
Willingness to be on-call as required.

Responsibilities

Performs planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections on a broad range of patient care and selected support equipment.
Manages all assigned equipment and schedules service.
Performs pre-acceptance inspections and develops PM procedures on equipment; maintains files on procedures and manuals.
Ensures test equipment is working properly and calibrated within established intervals.
Responds expeditiously to clinical department calls to evaluate and rectify issues.
Researches and initiates orders for repair parts within budget parameters.
Maintains purchase order log and validates invoices for payment (field service personnel only).
Provides informal training to equipment users and staff as requested.
Makes recommendations to the Department Manager regarding service strategies on equipment.
Participates in the Quality Improvement / Risk Management program and keeps supervisors informed.
Maintains an orderly and functional work environment.
Provides emergency on-call responsibilities as needed.
Documents all significant asset-related actions per department practices.
Participates in department meetings and collaborates with technical personnel on updates.
