Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Biomedical Technician to service and maintain a wide range of medical and electronic equipment across Mercyhealth facilities in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

You will perform safety tests, document CMMS entries, and collaborate with vendors and staff to ensure equipment reliability. Travel and on-call duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or military equivalent certifications in bio-medical engineering/electronics.
• Minimum 1–3 years of hands-on experience with medical/electronic/mechanical equipment.
• Bio-Medical Technician certification by AAMI preferred.
• Valid driver's license and driving record per policy.
• Willingness to travel and be assigned to Mercyhealth locations.

Responsibilities

• Test and service various biomedical equipment to ensure safety and proper operation.
• Perform safety tests to protect patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards.
• Enter, complete and retrieve information in the CMMS for daily operations.
• Collaborate with sales, service technicians and equipment manufacturers for proper operation.
• Complete daily work orders and assist with inventories and budgets.
• Be available for on-call duties and potential travel to Mercyhealth sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESServices various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia.Safety tests various equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely.Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the department.Modifies or develops instruments or devices, under supervision of medical or engineering staff.Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their representatives to assure proper operation of equipment.Completes daily work orders and other tasks as assigned with minimal supervision.Acts as a resource for partners.Participates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking emergency call and helping with special events.May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends.May require travel with personal or company vehicle.May be assigned to any of Mercyhealth locations.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEAssociate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related or related Military equivalent certifications or CBET Certification.Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an environment that pertains to installing, maintaining and repairing medical, electronic and/or mechanical equipmentCERTIFICATION/LICENSURECertification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI preferredMaintain a valid driver's licenseHave and maintain driving record per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety policyPAY RANGE:$27.17 - $40.75Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
