Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to maintain and repair medical devices across multiple sites. You will perform safety tests, manage work orders in the CMMS, and assist with inventory and budgets while supporting special events and emergency coverage.

Ideal candidates have an Associate Degree in Biomedical Engineering/Electronics, 1–3 years in a similar environment, and a preferred AAMI certification.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Biomedical Engineering/Electronics or related military equivalence.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience maintaining and repairing medical/electronic/mechanical equipment.
  • Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI preferred; valid driver’s license.
  • Experience using CMMS systems for work orders, PM schedules, and asset management.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair medical and related equipment.
  • Conduct safety tests to protect patients and staff from hazards.
  • Enter, complete, retrieve information in the CMMS database for daily operations.
  • Assist with inventory management and department budget.
  • Respond to emergencies and support special events as needed.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Services various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia. Safety tests various equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards. Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely. Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the department. Modifies or develops instruments or devices, under supervision of medical or engineering staff. Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their representatives to assure proper operation of equipment. Completes daily work orders and other tasks as assigned with minimal supervision. Acts as a resource for partners. Participates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking emergency call and helping with special events. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends. May require travel with personal or company vehicle. May be assigned to any of Mercyhealth locations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related or related Military equivalent certifications or CBET Certification. Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an environment that pertains to installing, maintaining and repairing medical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI preferred Maintain a valid driver's license Have and maintain driving record per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety policy

PAY RANGE

$27.17 - $40.75
