Sinclair Community College invites applications for Biology - Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty at the Dayton campus. The role supports afternoons and evenings, Monday–Thursday, teaching curricula developed by the Biology Department and leveraging instructional technology.

Minimum requirements include a master’s degree in biology (or a master’s with relevant graduate coursework) and prior teaching experience. Candidates should exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills; background checks

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biology required; or a master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the content area required.
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully in a community college environment.
• Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction.

Responsibilities

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department.
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies.
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate.
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Job description

Position Summary

The SinclairBiology Department utilizes labs to enhance the lecture presentations of our course offerings. The labs include general biolabs and anatomy and physiology labs. With these great academic facilities, students have plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on experience through our programs.

The Biology Department is seeking adjunct faculty that are available afternoons and evenings, Monday – Thursday. The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Sinclair Community College will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
