Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Principal Scientist I to lead analytical activities within the Process Analytics team in Biologics. You will guide high-throughput testing for late-stage programs, serving as SME for separation methods including HPLC and capillary electrophoresis, and drive method development and automation with cross-functional partners.

The role demands a PhD or MS with extensive experience, strong leadership, and excellent communication to foster a collaborative lab environment.

Qualifications

PhD with 6+ years in analytical development or process analytics; MS with 10+ years acceptable.
Proven leadership of analytical development for biologics (mAbs, ADCs, fusion proteins).
Hands-on method development in protein/impurity analysis (HPLC, CE, related).
Experience with automation and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead analytical activities in high-throughput testing for biologics late-stage programs.
Serve as SME for separation methods (HPLC, capillary electrophoresis).
Evaluate/select fit-for-purpose analytics to meet PD needs.
Provide method development, execution, troubleshooting, and guidance.
Mentor and supervise junior scientists; coordinate sample testing schedules.
Partner with PD SMEs to interpret analytical data.
Drive automation implementations and high-throughput workflows.
Drive continuous improvement to enhance lab efficiency and capability.
