Job summary

PacBio is seeking a Scientist II, Bioinformatics to join our Applications Lab, supporting production and proof-of-concept sequencing projects. You will develop computational infrastructure, automate data processing workflows, and deliver high-quality bioinformatics analyses for internal and customer projects.

This hands-on role requires strong programming skills, proficiency with Linux and high-performance computing, and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.

Qualifications

PhD in Bioinformatics or related field with experience; or a Master with 3-5 years experience or a B.S. with 5-7 years experience.
Proficiency in Python programming and data processing.
Strong Linux knowledge, shell scripting, and HPC experience.
Experience with bioinformatics pipelines and NGS data analysis.

Responsibilities

Bioinformatics analyses for internal and customer projects with robust deliverables.
Maintain computational tools and infrastructure for lab operations.
Develop and automate pipelines and workflows in Python and HPC environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate results and insights.
