PacBio seeks a Scientist II, Bioinformatics to join the Applications Lab. You will develop and maintain computational infrastructure, automate data processing workflows, and deliver high-quality analyses for internal and customer projects.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in a relevant field with 0–2 years experience; or Masters with 3–5 years or B.S. with 5–7 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in Python programming, including data processing.
• Strong Linux knowledge and command-line skills.
• Experience with HPC environments, job schedulers, and pipeline execution.
• Familiarity with development practices: testing, version control, code reviews, workflow frameworks (WDL, Nextflow), containers, and documentation.
• Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis and bioinformatics pipelines.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Aufgaben

• Collaborate with lab scientists to support sequencing projects and deliver timely results.
• Perform bioinformatics analyses for internal and customer projects with clear visualizations and summaries.
• Maintain computational tools and infrastructure, including sample and project tracking.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot bioinformatics pipelines and automated workflows using Python, Linux, and HPC.
• Engage with academic and commercial collaborators to evaluate new methods and applications.
