Job summary

LGC Biosearch Technologies is seeking a Senior Scientist II in R&D Bioinformatics to lead the development of algorithms, pipelines and tools for PCR- and NGS-based applications. You will mentor teams, optimize genomic data processing, and collaborate across product, lab services and leadership to drive new products.

The role requires extensive bioinformatics expertise, strong Python/Perl coding, Docker environments, and experience with large genomics datasets.

Qualifications

• Master or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (bioinformatics, computer science, biostatistics, computational biology, genetics, biology) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years in a highly technical bioinformatics role.
• Proficiency in Python and Perl; Unix-based OS experience; Bash scripting.
• Strong Docker expertise; experience with Git version control.
• Experience in computational pipeline development and genomics data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop oligo building tools and pipelines for qPCR and NGS.
• Develop algorithms and tools for NGS data analysis and new product creation.
• Lead research projects with collaborators across the organization.
• Mentor internal and external software teams on algorithms and science.
• Create scripts for routine genomic data processing, curation, and storage.
• Provide data analysis training to wet-lab scientists as needed.
• Build high-throughput multiplexing genotyping panels for humans, plants, animals, microbes.
• Collaborate with Product/Project Management and R&D for new products and custom projects.
• Identify new product ideas, develop prototypes, and present results to leadership.
• Attend conferences and seminars to stay current in scientific/tech developments.
