Job summary

Qualifications

• BS in a scientific field with 6+ years of related experience, or MS with 4+ years.
• Experience with standard bacteriological methods including phenotypic, biochemical or molecular analyses.
• Experience with PCR/qPCR and ELISA assay design/validation.
• Proficiency in clear oral and written communications and strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge or experience with biosafety, biosurety, and decontamination is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs analysis of bacteriological samples using plating, Gram staining, colony counting and genetic analyses.
• Develops, validates, and maintains methods for identifying biological threat agents.
• Provides technical support to multiple bacteriology projects simultaneously.
• Mentors staff and may act as Lab Space Manager or BSAT designee as needed.
• Writes/updates SOPs, work instructions, and forms to improve NBACC processes.
