Job summary

The Sr. Research Associate, Microbiology at NBACC (operated by Battelle National Biodefense Institute) is based at Fort Detrick, MD.

The role involves performing bacteriological analyses, developing and validating methods, and mentoring staff in a high-containment research environment. Qualified candidates will have a science degree with significant related experience, proficiency in PCR, ELISA, and standard bacteriological techniques, and be able to operate within NBACC’s QA and biosafety

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 6 years related experience, or a Master’s with minimum 4 years.
• Experience with standard bacteriological methods including phenotypic, biochemical and/or molecular analyses.
• Knowledge of biosafety, biosurety, and decontamination is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs analysis of bacteriological samples using standard techniques.
• Develops, validates, and maintains methods for identifying and characterizing biological threat agents.
• Mentors staff and supports multiple projects in bacteriology and aerobiology.
