Qualifications

• Familiarity with different paper weights, sizes and colors to interpret paper conditions and adjust machines.
• Familiarity with basic mathematics to understand dimensional requirements and adjust proceedings.
• Ability to use the full range of standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery equipment.
• Skill in making adjustments to powered machines using handtools such as wrenches, screwdrivers and punches.
• Ability to read and interpret written work that dictates machine operations and dimensional accuracy.
• Knowledge of operating procedures for bindery equipment like folders, cutters, collators, stitchers and binding/gluing machines.
• Working knowledge of setup, adjustment, and capabilities of equipment for folding, collating and cutting printed materials to finish products.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate a variety of bindery machines and attachments to produce final books, catalogs, or magazines.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and maintain operating conditions.
• Direct crew through all aspects of production and monitor quality, output and productivity.
