Job summary

Hensel Phelps seeks a BIM Engineer (entry level VDC) to support model management and coordination across design, engineering, and operations teams. You will engage with laser scanning, LiDAR, and AR/VR workflows to drive VDC initiatives on landmark projects.

As an on-site role, you will collaborate with field and design teams, learn company practices, and contribute to project execution plans while growing with a national leader in construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering.
• Expertise with Autodesk programs – AutoCAD and Revit.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of basic field layout principles.
• Understanding concepts of VDC or BIM.
• Exposure to BIM systems (Revit, Synchro, Navisworks, Sketchup).
• Excellent computer skills: MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam.
• Strong personal management, organization, and open-mindedness.
• 3+ years in building or design industry (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-site training.
• Build knowledge of reality capture methods and data management (laser scanning, sUAS, terrestrial photogrammetry, LiDAR).
• Support development and execution of VDC project plans and implementation strategies.
• Assist in coordinating architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, and site components of the model.
• Establish project alignment for 3D coordination and integration with primary control plan.
• Utilize project information management systems.
• Engage in transmittals, deliveries, and quality/safety processes.
• Assist in modeling scope of work from documents, submittals, RFIs and shop drawings.
• Prepare models for lift drawings, layout, AR/VR and laser scan integration.
• Participate in jobsite safety initiatives and reporting.
• Model content for visualization and construction from design through build.
