Job summary

Mediaocean is seeking a Billing Specialist to own invoicing for an assigned customer segment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract terms. You will support month-end close, respond to audit requests, and collaborate with Accounting, Sales, and Client Support to streamline billing processes.

This role reports to the VP of Billing and offers a hybrid Chicago/NYC work setup. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent billing experience, with 1+ years in billing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent billing experience.
• Comfortable generating invoices from contracts and reconciling complex billing issues.
• Reliable and consistent—meets deadlines and completes work accurately.
• Strong communicator who explains billing questions clearly across departments.
• Excellent time management and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate customer invoices based on contract terms and client-specific billing rules.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles.
• Respond to audit requests and ensure billing files comply with company policies.
• Maintain and improve billing process documentation and SOPs.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with Accounting, Sales, and Client Support.
• Meet all deadlines and policies consistently.
• Support finance functions outside billing as needed.
• Contribute to a positive, accountable team culture.
