CONSTRUCTION BILLING / PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
Why Apply for This Job?
- Join an established, growing construction/project-based business on Long Island.
- Own AIA billing, progress billing, change orders, retainage and project reconciliations.
- Work closely with Project Managers and operations rather than sitting in a purely transactional accounting role.
- Strong opportunity for someone coming from a subcontractor, specialty contractor or project-based construction environment.
- Stable, full-time position with room to take on greater responsibility.
This is a hands‑on project accounting and billing position with a well‑established business delivering large‑scale commercial projects across New York.

- Maintain schedules of values and ensure billing aligns with project contracts and milestones.
- Process and track change orders, retainage and lien waiver documentation.
- Reconcile project billing, payments and outstanding balances.
- Work directly with Project Managers to resolve billing discrepancies and obtain required backup.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding project payments.
- Maintain accurate project, contract and billing documentation.
- Support job‑cost reporting, project reconciliations and general accounting requirements.
- Assist with client portals and project‑specific billing requirements where required.
Your Experience
- Experience in construction, subcontracting, engineering, architecture or another project‑based environment.
- Hands‑on experience with AIA billing, SOVs and progress billing.
- Comfortable managing multiple active projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Understanding of change orders, retainage, lien waivers and collections.
- Strong communication skills when working with Project Managers, clients and accounting teams.
- Experience with Viewpoint/Vista, Textura, Procore or similar construction systems is advantageous.
The Rewards
- $75,000–$90,000, depending on experience.
- Melville, Long Island location.
- Established and growing project-based organization.
- Opportunity to develop further within construction accounting and project finance.
