Job description

Billing Operations Specialist - Medicare

Join to apply for the Billing Operations Specialist - Medicare role at Centene Corporation.

This is a remote position with training held locally at 8725 Henderson Rd, Tampa, FL. Candidates must reside within a reasonable distance to the office location.

Position Purpose

This remote role involves handling escalated billing or healthcare complaints by making outbound calls to resolve Medicare member concerns. Responsibilities include researching unresolved issues related to claims, enrollment, Pharmacy, Appeals, and Premium Billing.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to research and resolve disputes or discrepancies in billed amounts and payment transactions.
  • Prepare accurate billing for external clients in a timely manner.
  • Document all collection efforts and transaction records.
  • Reconcile member accounts as needed.
  • Prepare bad debt write-offs as needed.
  • Research and process refunds as needed.
  • Maintain low volume in assigned error queues within the billing system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of billing/collections, accounting, or customer service experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.

Preferred Skills
  • Strong Medicare or PDP (Prescription Drug Plan) background.
  • Experience de-escalating irate member calls.
  • Ability to handle 40 caseloads simultaneously with different concerns.
  • Workforce Management (WFM) background is beneficial.
  • Work shifts from 9-5:30, 9:30-6, or 10-6:30 pm.
  • Availability for busy season from October to February and some Saturday workdays (with a weekday off if working Saturday).
Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $19.04 - $32.35 per hour. Benefits include competitive pay, health insurance, 401K, stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, holidays, and flexible work arrangements.
