Job summary

Orrick Herrington & Suttcliffe seeks a Billing Analyst to join our Global Operations & Innovation Center (GOIC) with offices in Wheeling, Charlotte, Portland, and Sacramento. The role includes creating billing schedules, maintaining attorney portfolios, and processing pre-bills with attention to detail.

You will work with attorneys, secretaries, and clients to ensure accurate billing, generate monthly reports, and implement new formats in CMS/Elite environments.

Qualifications

• College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree, or equivalent work experience.
• 1–3 or more years hands‑on billing experience in a law firm.
• CMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
• Ability to multi‑task and prioritize.
• Ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently.
• Ability to show strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform at high levels in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, initiative.
• Flexibility to work varied hours; possibly weekends or evenings.

Responsibilities

• Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as required.
• Maintain a portfolio of billing attorneys.
• Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
• Process write-offs following Firm policy.
• Handle a high volume of complex bills in a timely manner.
• Interact effectively with attorneys, secretaries, and clients.
• Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation.
• Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
• Work with applications team to create and implement new billing formats.
• Create and distribute monthly reports.
• Adhere to Firm billing policies.
• Utilize CMS, Elite, Excel, Word to perform duties.
• Ensure strict confidentiality at all times.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
