Job summary

Orrick is seeking a Billing Analyst to support our West Coast offices. You will create billing schedules, maintain portfolios of billing attorneys, review pre-bills, and process write-offs while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

The role requires 1–3+ years of law firm billing experience, familiarity with CMS/Elite/Javelan, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree, or equivalent work experience.
• 1–3+ years hands-on billing experience in a law firm.
• CMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently; strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform at high levels in a dynamic ever-changing work environment and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
• Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly weekends or evenings.

Responsibilities

• Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as required.
• Maintain a portfolio of billing attorneys.
• Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
• Process write-offs following Firm policy.
• Ability to handle a high volume of complex bills in a timely manner with discounts by matter and split-party billing.
• Interact with attorneys, secretaries, and clients effectively.
• Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation.
• Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues.
