Job summary

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) seeks a Program Representative who is organized, professional, and results oriented to serve unemployment insurance benefits and employment services. This in-office role requires strong knowledge of federal and state UI laws and the Spanish-speaking ability to assist clients.

The position is full-time, in-office in Joliet, with standard hours Monday–Friday; requires travel for duties and background checks.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of social/behavioral sciences or business with four years of college, or equivalent combination.
• Must be able to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial level.

Responsibilities

• Performs functions related to receipt, review, entry, analysis and resolution of all types of routine, complex and special claims on benefit entitlement programs.
• Assists clients with various programs and services offered by IDES and partner agencies.
• Adjudicates monetary and nonmonetary benefit claim issues, providing eligibility determinations for routine, initial or continued claims.
• Advises clients on work attitudes, habits, relationships and attire as related to job referrals.
• Establishes and maintains activity reports to demonstrate work activity and detail time charging.
