Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Bilingual Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers in elementary and high schools, using bilingual skills to assist students with disabilities under IEPs. This role emphasizes hands-on tutoring, personal care, and collaboration with the classroom team.

Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, assisting in daily living skills, documenting progress, and supporting field trips.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE.
• Evidence of at least 60 college semester hours or paraprofessional exam credits.
• Ability to read, write and speak English and at least one other language.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain reports.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce instruction for students with disabilities under IEPs.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist with daily living skills, positioning equipment, and feeding as required.
• Document student behavior and progress; accompany on trips and to clinics.
• Maintain records and assist with classroom tasks and materials.
