Job summary

City of Aurora seeks an experienced professional to plan and coordinate support programs for small and emerging businesses. You will provide advising in English and Spanish, help develop business plans and financing arrangements, and promote training courses across Arapahoe and Douglas counties.

You will liaise with regional economic development partners, deliver monthly updates, and support program deployment while contributing to overall economic growth and job creation within the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, marketing, or directly related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as a small business owner or operator, or manager of economic development programs.
• Experience with training and facilitation.
• Spanish language skills are an asset.
• Experience in business acquisitions or exits and integrating AI into small business operations.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and coordinates professional support and assistance programs for small and emerging businesses.
• Provides direct advising assistance to existing and start-up businesses in English and Spanish.
• Assists in preparing business plans and financing arrangements; develops retention and attraction programs.
• Helps create, develop, and execute small business training courses.
• Serves as liaison to small businesses and establishes ongoing communication.
• Networks with community and regional economic development organizations.
• Presents monthly updates and quarterly reports on trends and lending environment.
• Hosts and attends small business training sessions in the region.
• Maintains detailed client notes and economic impact data in the SBDC network.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
