Job summary

Houston Area Women's Center is seeking a Bilingual Residential Advocate to help maintain a safe flagship campus and assist clients with crisis intervention and information/referrals. You will monitor entrances/exits, route calls, and support shelter operations on-site.

The role requires Spanish/English fluency, strong communication, and collaboration with Residential Mentors, Case Managers, and Hotline Advocates. Weekend hours and local travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year in customer service, admin support, or nonprofit work with diverse clients.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English; read, speak, and write fluently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Outlook).
• Valid Texas driver’s license; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems and shelter access for clients, staff, and volunteers.
• Manage access cards for clients, staff and visitors using EMERGE system.
• Perform shelter operations and maintain a Daily Activity report.
• Enforce residential guidelines and provide crisis intervention/referrals.
