Job summary

To Help Everyone in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a referral clerk to assist patients with referrals and connect services with outside resources. The role uses Medpoint, RPS, and eConsult to process referrals for insured and uninsured patients in the Los Angeles County area.

Responsibilities include confirming insurance status, referring uninsured patients to public resources, coordinating with in-house retinal screening and telederm, and communicating with Health Care LA IPA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a community clinic preferred.
• Knowledge in Medical Terminology.
• Ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, social, and economic backgrounds.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Computer proficiency.
• Experience utilizing an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system is highly desirable.
• Bilingual Required.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals for insured and uninsured patients throughout Los Angeles County utilizing Medpoint System for insured patients and the Referral Processing System (RPS) and eConsult for uninsured patients.
• Verify patient insurance status whether patient have insurance or not and determine eligibility or public resources for uninsured.
• Refer for in-house service such as retinal screening and telederm for uninsured patients.
• Communicate daily with Health Care LA IPA, RPS system and eCounsult to check status.
• Notify patients upon approval and send necessary documents to the specialist by fax.
• Request reports from specialists and file them in the EMR (eCW) and track referral status.
• Attend monthly utilization management meetings and prepare productivity reports.
• Other duties as assigned.
