Job summary

State of Oregon is seeking an entry-level Public Benefits Specialist (Support Staff) at the North Bend ODHS office. The role requires bilingual English/Spanish communication and involves assisting customers with medical, cash, food, childcare, and long-term care benefit applications while upholding equity and trauma-informed service.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, manage information accurately, and support day-to-day office operations under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
• Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high-volume data handling or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a welcoming environment as families interact with the department.
• Greet and assist customers and colleagues through a trauma-informed lens.
• Work within a team that collaboratively rotates tasks to support the office’s needs.
• Assist customers applying for programs such as medical, TANF, SNAP, childcare, and long-term care services.
• Obtain initial information from customers in person, by phone and online to provide status updates and access resources.
• Assist with financial duties including tracking, issuing and accounting for financial actions.
