Job summary

Exploreelginarea is seeking a friendly, bilingual and organized individual to join the Hispanic Services Department at the Main Library. The role supports program and service delivery across the library district, emphasizing strong customer service with Spanish-speaking patrons of diverse ages and backgrounds.

The position is 28 hours per week with a pay rate of $17.00/hour plus enrollment in the IMRF Pension Plan and time-off benefits.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must successfully complete a language skills test at the proficiency level.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day activities of the Hispanic Services Department, including on-site and off-site program preparation, set-up and clean‑up, errands, and other departmental tasks.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties related to program agreements, marketing, and data entry.
• Translate written and verbal information between Spanish and English, as needed.
• Coordinate technology support for in‑person and virtual programs.
