Job summary

The Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL is seeking a friendly, bilingual and organized team member for the Hispanic Services Department. This 28-hour-per-week position involves supporting program activities, handling clerical tasks, and translating between Spanish and English.

You will work as part of a team, interact with diverse patrons, and may cover days, evenings and weekends. The role offers $17.00 per hour with prorated time-off benefits.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required with strong communication.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a language skills test.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day activities of the Hispanic Services Department, including on-site and off-site program prep, setup and cleanup, errands, and other departmental tasks.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties related to program agreements, marketing, and data entry.
• Translate written and verbal information between Spanish and English, as needed.
• Coordinate technology support for in-person and virtual programs.
