Job summary

Mexican American Opportunity Foundation seeks a Teacher Assistant for its Child Care/Pre-School program. The role involves assisting teachers, following lesson plans, and supervising children to support their development.

The position requires six college units in early childhood education, one year of preschool experience, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities. Normal hours are 40 per week, with non-exempt status and temporary assignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum six (6) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.
• Minimum one (1) year experience with preschool children.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate.
• Regular attendance, Monday through Friday, according to schedule.
• Sensitive to diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in group instruction and activities with materials and supervision.
• Maintain safe, clean, and orderly classroom indoors and outdoors.
• Document attendance and monitor children's development.
• Assist in weekly lesson plan preparation and educational materials.
• Teach arts, crafts, songs, and games to children.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned.
