Job summary

Centro de la Familia seeks a Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education under the Lead Teacher. You will help administer a developmentally appropriate program for infants and toddlers, work with families, and assist in meals and classroom activities.

Ideal applicants hold a Preschool CDA or plan to obtain one, with CPR/First Aid and Food Handler permits. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred; physically able to assist in active preschool care.

Qualifications

• Current Preschool CDA or a plan to earn one within the first six months.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education/child development or related field within two years of hire.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler permits.
• Willingness to work with children with special needs and limited English skills.
• Preferred bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the classroom, supervise children, and engage them in activities indoors and outdoors.
• Support daily planning to promote growth and development per Head Start standards.
• Create a safe, engaging learning environment using materials, routines, and play.
• Communicate with parents and support bilingual development and family involvement.
