Job summary

Asian American Health Coalition of the Greater Houston Area is seeking a Patient Support Specialist for the HOPE Clinic to facilitate patient flow, register new patients, and maintain accurate demographics while supporting the medical records team. The role requires a High School diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred) and at least one year of health service experience.

Bilingual English/Spanish is required; other languages are a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year in health education, patient navigation, and/or health clinic patient assistance field.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and confidentiality is required.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks, complexity, and diverse customers.
• Experience in medical settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients with registration and eligibility.
• Check in/out patients using electronic medical records.
• Scan and file medical records in the system per HIPAA guidelines.
• Submit and document forms and records promptly and accurately.
• Verify insurance eligibility for billing purposes.
• Assist with scheduling and inquiries and handle telephone notes.
