Job summary

High Plains Community Health Center Wiley Clinic seeks a Patient Engagement Specialist to warmly welcome patients and guide them through the care journey, handling front desk tasks and insurance verification in a bilingual environment.

You will schedule visits, assist with referrals and navigation, connect patients to community resources, and maintain EMR accuracy while supporting care plans with the provider team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Spanish proficiency is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, medical billing, care coordination, or customer service preferred.
• Ability to use EMR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and standard office equipment.
• Strong communication skills with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients with high level of customer service in person and over the phone.
• Check in patients, collect paperwork, update demographic and insurance information.
• Collect co-pays and assist with billing or insurance questions.
• Schedule and confirm appointments for medical, dental, and behavioral health services.
• Provide language interpretation and translation in English and Spanish.
• Identify and address barriers to care and refer to community resources.
• Review social determinants of health questionnaires and provide targeted support and education.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
