Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Part-time Member Services Representative at Border View Family YMCA - San Ysidro. The role emphasizes bilingual Spanish/English communication, answering inquiries, processing memberships, and guiding members toward programs and services with a strong focus on customer service.

You will greet and interview prospective members, conduct tours, and promote memberships while maintaining accurate transactions and a positive, service-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of sales and relationship-building experience preferred.
• Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission of the YMCA.
• An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests and staff.
• Conflict resolution skills, and ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
• Experience with basic Windows-based applications.
• Possess basic math, grammar, and spelling skills to complete transactions.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Fingerprinting required by state law for YMCA staff, with background checks per policy.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (Adult and Child/Infant) within 30 days of hire from American Red Cross / American Heart Association / American Safety & Health Institute.

Responsibilities

• Model the YMCA values in interactions with members and staff.
• Educate members that the YMCA is a non-profit charitable organization.
• Promote membership and programs and serve as an advocate for the YMCA.
• Monitor facility access and ensure proper check-ins.
• Answer incoming calls courteously and route to appropriate departments.
• Engage with members to understand goals and interests and assist in achievement.
• Maintain knowledge of branch and association programs to share information with members.
• Greet, interview, and tour prospective members using cause-driven sales techniques.
• Process membership sales, upgrades/downgrades, renewals, and transfers accurately.
• Contribute to member engagement and conversion efforts for inquiries or tours that did not join.
• Support debt collection and membership renewals communications.
• Process end-of-shift procedures and balance transactions.
• Follow YMCA policies and safety guidelines; report concerns to staff.
