Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Brigham and Women’s Hospital seeks a bilingual Spanish/English Interpreter to provide medical interpretation for clinical and non-clinical encounters. The role supports communication for patients with limited English proficiency or hearing impairment, onsite or by telephone, following national standards and hospital policies.

The position requires fluency in English and Spanish, medical terminology training, and patient-care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, required.
• Prior training in medical terminology and interpreting skills preferred.
• Two years of healthcare-related experience in a position of direct patient contact preferred.
• Knowledge of culture-specific care.

Responsibilities

• Answer requests effectively and in a timely manner for face-to-face or telephone interpretations for all encounters throughout the hospital, with priority to emergency and urgent requests.
• Interprets and transmits accurately and in understandable terms, complex medical information between patients, families and clinicians.
