Job summary

Mass General Brigham is hiring an on-site Medical Interpreter to facilitate language services for patients and families. You will work with qualified interpreters to ensure accurate interpretation and translation of materials, discharge instructions, and follow-up care information.

The role emphasizes documentation, scheduling support, and direct patient navigation within the hospital setting, with potential on-call duties for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare interpreting preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to coordinate interpreters and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a mediator to enhance communication between staff and patients/families as it relates to medical care.
• Keep accurate documentation of interpretation encounters including location, duration and purpose.
• Provide coordination and staff training on telephone language interpretation services and equipment.
• Answer calls promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist with appointment reminders, rescheduling, and scheduling interpreters for assignments.
• Help LEP patients navigate the hospital and understand administrative forms.
• Place outbound calls to scheduled patients to confirm appointment dates and times.
