Job summary

Potomac Urology with the Urology Alliance is seeking an experienced Phone Operator Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for patients, offering bilingual English and Spanish support. The position requires a high school diploma and 1 year in medical office or scheduling settings, with strong communication and HIPAA compliance guiding daily duties.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required; reading and writing skills preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year medical office or scheduling experience preferred.
• Strong telephone etiquette and customer service.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with EHR or scheduling software.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and urology terminology is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and stay professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality/HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls promptly and connect callers with the correct extension.
• Takes and relays messages accurately.
• Respond to emergency and urgent calls and direct to clinical staff as necessary.
• Perform operator functions including triaging calls; connecting and transferring calls; setting up conference calls; instructing users on telephone procedures; reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions.
• Provide a pleasant and helpful phone contact for callers.
• Perform clerical duties as assigned to maintain workflow in the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
