Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations in Mesa, AZ. You will determine donor eligibility and manage donor adverse events, review laboratory results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests under the guidance of Center Manager and Center Physician.

Required are a state-licensed LPN/LVN, CPR/AED certification, and FDA-approved BioLife training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER and EHS guidance.
