Job summary

First Community Bancshares, Inc. seeks a Collections Specialist to work closely with the Loan Collection Manager, coordinating workflow and negotiating payments with borrowers to cure delinquencies.

You will identify delinquency reasons, review loan histories, and educate borrowers on obligations and loan terms. The role requires 18+ years old, a high school diploma, 2+ years in consumer collections, bilingual English/Spanish skills, and proficiency with MS Office and Excel.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 2 years of consumer collections in a tested FDCPA compliant call center environment.
• Must be fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience in customer service and direct contact with customers.
• Ability to organize and prioritize.
• Must pass background investigation.
• Able to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Loan Collection Manager to coordinate collection workflow activities.
• Locate and identify responsible parties through multiple channels and resolve past due amounts by negotiating payments, payment arrangements or other delinquency curing transactions a borrower may be eligible for.
• Identify reason(s) for delinquency.
• Research history on current loans.
• Educate borrowers and co-borrowers about their payment obligation and the terms of their loans.
• Convey the consequences of non-payment to borrowers and co-borrowers.
• Create financial, administrative, and maintenance transactions.
• Verify points of contact for borrowers and co-borrowers (addresses, phone numbers, email addresses).
• Maintain an advanced working knowledge of lending products, services and collection practices.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
• Other duties as assigned.
