Job summary

Independent-Bank in Memphis, TN seeks an entry-level Collections associate to initiate customer contact, assess delinquency, and negotiate feasible repayment plans in line with bank policies and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

You will perform skip-tracing, build customer relationships, and document interactions while working under supervision to cure delinquency and meet team goals. Hours include Mon-Thurs 5-9 p.m., Sat 8am-Noon.

Qualifications

• Entry Level Collections experience
• Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment with little supervision
• Microsoft Windows experience
• Ability to type 30-35 wpm
• Demonstrated multi-tasking and verbal/written skills
• Excellent math skills
• High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for collecting automobile installment loan accounts 15-29 days past due
• Utilize daily contact and skip-tracing efforts
• Develop and maintain on-going customer relationships
• Negotiate payment arrangements
• Advise customers of their responsibilities under loan contracts and provide counseling on payment arrangements
• Utilize effective negotiating skills and persistent follow-up to cure delinquency
• Understand and apply knowledge of credit bureau reports related to daily activities
• Adhere to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
• Other duties as assigned or required

JOB SUMMARY:

All Collectors report to the Collection Team Leader and Team Lead. Collectors will initiate customer contact and determine reason for delinquency evaluates customer’s financial situations and negotiates terms of repayment to bring account current and maybe responsible for some skip tracing. Collectors must adhere to all Bank policies, procedures and all compliance regulations.
