Base Salary: $130,000–$140,000 annually (DOE)

We are expanding our Habitability Department and seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Litigation Associate Attorney to represent tenants facing unsafe and uninhabitable housing conditions.

The ideal candidate is an ambitious, motivated attorney who can independently manage litigation matters, communicate directly with Spanish-speaking clients, and work closely with experienced trial attorneys on complex cases.

About the Position

This is a client-facing litigation position requiring professional fluency in both English and Spanish.

The selected attorney will manage their own caseload while assisting the Head of the Habitability Department with significant litigation matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage habitability litigation matters from intake through resolution.
• Communicate directly with English- and Spanish-speaking clients, including conducting consultations, explaining legal processes, and providing case updates.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
• Conduct depositions, negotiate settlements, and prepare cases for trial.
• Appear at court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to develop effective litigation strategies.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide compassionate, results-driven representation.

Required Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish (required). Must be able to communicate professionally and confidently with Spanish-speaking clients regarding legal matters.
• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Minimum of one year of civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and learn quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in habitability, landlord-tenant, personal injury, or other plaintiff-side civil litigation.
• Familiarity with Filevine, Slack, Dropbox, and other legal case-management tools.
• Experience handling depositions, hearings, discovery, and settlement negotiations.
• Base salary: $130,000–$140,000, depending on experience.
• Discretionary performance-based bonus.
• Projected total compensation of $160,000+ based on performance; not guaranteed.

Interview Process
