Job summary

Ideal candidates hold an RN license in Illinois, IBCLC certification, and 2+ years of maternal/child nursing experience; BLS certification is also required. Master’s degree or EPIC proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
Current RN license in Illinois required.
IBCLC certification required.
BLS certification required.
Minimum 2 years of clinical maternal/child nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform expert lactation assessments and develop care plans.
Create feeding plans (breastfeeding, pumping, supplementation).
Assess parent/baby dyad lactation goals regularly.
Evaluate procedures and ensure safe handling of human milk in the postpartum unit.
Provide equitable care to diverse populations including linguistic/cultural needs.
Communicate effectively with healthcare teams, patients, and families.
Lead breastfeeding support groups for OB patients and Rush community.
Educate OB services staff and revise policies based on lactation research.
