Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks a registered nurse to serve as a Lactation Consultant. The role requires expert lactation assessments, development of feeding plans, and support for high-risk breastfeeding challenges in the Antepartum-Postpartum unit.

Ideal candidates hold an RN license in Illinois, IBCLC certification, and 2+ years of maternal/child nursing experience; BLS certification is also required. Master’s degree or EPIC proficiency are preferred.

• Perform expert lactation assessments and develop care plans.
• Create feeding plans (breastfeeding, pumping, supplementation).
• Assess parent/baby dyad lactation goals regularly.
• Evaluate procedures and ensure safe handling of human milk in the postpartum unit.
• Provide equitable care to diverse populations including linguistic/cultural needs.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare teams, patients, and families.
• Lead breastfeeding support groups for OB patients and Rush community.
• Educate OB services staff and revise policies based on lactation research.
