Qualifications

• BSN required; minimum 3 years Maternal Child Nursing experience.
• Illinois RN license and current BLS; NRP as required by site.
• IBCLC certification or plan to obtain within 2 years of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lactation consultant for lactation difficulties; provide holistic nursing care.
• Develop and implement lactation plans of care.
• Coordinate communication between hospital and providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Educate mothers and families on lactation; participate in annual lactation education program.
• Develop policies, procedures and guidelines for lactation practice at site and system levels.
• Maintain phone consultation system for lactation questions and problem resolution.
